Nancy works exclusively in watermedia in a process she’s developed which she calls “Inner Painting”. She has evolved from a watercolorist into a mixed media painter working exclusively in water-based pigments with added layers at times using rice paper collage and various acrylic mediums. Rather than sketching out and planning her paintings, she allows the pigment, color and movement to dictate her subject matter, often being surprised with the images that develop during this dynamic process. She generally works in series; two of her major series are featured on this website: the Horse Series and the Blooms Series.

The Horse
Series began twelve years ago and continues to this day. She has accepts “creative commissions” in this series. Her love of these animals has spanned her lifetime and recently has lead to her assisting various wild horse sanctuaries and horse rescue operations in several states through donations of her giclee prints and proceeds from painting sales. The Blooms Series paintings were instrumental in the early development of Nancy’s “Inner Painting” technique. Influenced by the early 20th century Expressionism art movement and evoking Impressionist nuances, Nancy’s unique interpretation of petals, leaves and floral imagery has continued over a fifteen year period. These paintings are often layered with rice paper collage revealing the delicacy and variances in color so abundant in the floral world. |

By teaching creative workshops in watermedia Nancy offers people a chance to explore their inner creativity and further personal growth. Two creative workshops she teaches are "Fun with Mixed Media and Rice Paper Collage," an excellent class for both beginners and the more seasoned artist, and "Inner Painting and Experimental Mixed Media", a class for seasoned watermedia artists seeking to discover their own unique style of expression.
